Tony Skolarus is a 25-year law enforcement professional who dedicated his first fifteen years of police service serving the citizens of Michigan. In addition to working patrol, special investigations, and as a patrol sergeant, he attended numerous advanced and specialized training courses which included crime and death scene investigations, fire cause and origin, and crisis negotiation. After joining the Tampa Police Department in 2014, Tony has served in several plain-clothes assignments to include Rapid Offender Control (ROC), Street-Anti Crimes (SAC), Criminal Intelligence, and Homicide. Currently a Sergeant with TPD’s Training Unit, he is responsible for the training of police recruits and lateral hires. He has worked numerous death investigations, and continues to attend advanced and specialized training courses promoting contemporary investigative techniques and best practices. He is a certified FDLE instructor (to include firearms), and specializes in law enforcement investigative training. Tony holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Behavioral Science, with subject matter expertise in Violent Crime, Sexual Deviancy, and Mental Illness. Dr. Skolarus is also an adjunct criminal justice professor with Hillsborough Community College.
